Artsy Product News: Summer 2024 Updates

While the foundations of good art dealing remain more or less the same, new technology is key to finding greater success with less effort.

We’re thrilled to recap all the new and redesigned products and tools we’ve launched so far this year. These updates will make your gallery’s Artsy experience smoother, more efficient, and ultimately more rewarding for your artists and business.

What’s new

  1. Take action on real-time insights of collectors’ tastes, preferences, and activities. With Demand and Send Offers in CMS, galleries like yours can proactively engage collectors who have expressed interest in your artists and artworks, and drive engagement.
  2. Meet the redesigned Collector Profile with more insight on the collector and their history with your gallery, so you can vet more quickly and jump-start conversations with a personalized approach.
  3. Explore the completely rebuilt Folio, your guide for accessing, presenting, and sharing your complete catalog with collectors in person or on the go.

Demand

The Demand page in CMS surfaces collector Alerts for your artists created in the past 30 days, so you can see what collectors are actively hunting for on Artsy. Collectors set Alerts by artist, adding optional filters like price range, rarity, and medium. Publish works that match their alerts, and we’ll immediately notify them of new arrivals.

With Demand, you get:

  • Real-time collector insights. See what collectors are actively setting Alerts for on Artsy with at-a-glance visibility into your most in-demand artists.
  • Tools to take action. Upload artwork that matches collector Alerts and we’ll automatically notify collectors of new arrivals. Collectors are alerted to new works through the Artsy app and website, and via push notifications and/or email (depending on their preferences).
  • Data to inform your strategy. Use Demand to inform your Artsy inventory strategy, or get inspiration for work to feature in fairs or exhibitions based on collector interest.

Send Offers

The Send Offers page in CMS lets you track which artworks from your artists have been saved by collectors or left behind in checkout in the past 30 days—and send limited-time offers on those artworks.

With Send Offers, you get:

  • Tracking for real-time collector interest. See which artworks have been saved to “shared” lists by collectors or left behind in checkout in the past 30 days. Saves surface as soon as the collector taps “save,” and abandoned cart orders surface 24 hours after the collector leaves an artwork behind in checkout.
  • More tools to take action. Set your offer price and send it to collectors. Offers are available for 72 hours, unless a collector accepts the offer and purchases the artwork sooner.

Send Offers is available to all gallery partners with “Purchase” and “Make Offer” listing options available. To access, log in and visit the Send Offers page in CMS here.

Collector Profile Redesign

With a redesign and new functionality for Collector Profile, gallery partners can see more insights, including the collector’s relationship with your gallery and artists, so you can quickly vet and jump-start the conversation with a personalized approach.

With Collector Profile, you get:

  • Instant context (new): A summary bio provides key info like past purchases from your gallery, if they follow your gallery, if they follow artists you represent, and any notes on their collection or what they’re looking for (based on any Alerts they’ve set).
  • Conversation history (new): Details and links to previous inquiries, orders, and offers including the date and artwork in discussion (if available).
  • Budget confidence (new): Insights into their purchasing power based on past purchases on Artsy at that price (if available).
  • Artsy activity: Number of works purchased, auction bids, saves, artist follows, ID verification status, and whether they’re a new or active user, or repeat buyer.
  • Optional details from the collector: Name, profile picture, location, job, and information about their art collection, both inside and outside of Artsy, if they choose to share.
  • Tastes and interests based on their collection: Artists they follow and those already in their collection, helping you suggest pieces that might interest them.

Not seeing a Collector Profile? Don’t worry. Thousands of collectors join Artsy weekly, often when they find a work they are interested in acquiring, which means they wouldn’t have had a chance to add more information about themselves to the profile. In any case, we encourage you to use Conversations to ask Collectors for more details and build rapport.

Folio Relaunch

Access, present, and share your artworks, anywhere, anytime with Folio—completely rebuilt for speed and reliability this year.

In 2015, we launched Folio—a standalone app for phone and tablet that enables you to access, present, and share your artworks anywhere, anytime. With Folio, gallery partners can use Artsy on the ground at fairs, on the gallery floor, or following up with collectors after a meeting.

In 2024, we relaunched a completely rebuilt app, with behind-the-scenes restructuring for reliable performance, and introduced design updates for a more intuitive user experience.

With Folio, you can:

  • Access all your artworks, online or offline, from any device, anywhere.
  • Curate Albums to highlight a specific group of works, or create an Album of artwork you’ve discussed with a collector to easily share and revisit. Albums are a new tool on Artsy, unique to Folio.
  • Present how you want and share the right artworks. Customize presentations and curate albums ahead of time or on the spot for each audience.
  • Share simply with collectors to keep the conversation going—send artworks or albums via email, or let the collector scan a QR code to access artwork directly on Artsy.
  • Benefit from no platform fees for sales originating with Folio (unless the sale is completed on Artsy).
